Using the Gallery

Gallery

What is it?

As the name suggests allows members to upload (add) their image(s) for other club members and visitors to see. Any registered user can add pictures and even video's to the gallery. If you have not registered, click on the 'register' button at the top of the page.

How do i use it?

Adding photo's to the Gallery page is fairly straight forward. Before we get to that, there are a few things you need to know. Firstly, the Gallery contains two types of items, Albums and Media Items. A good analogy for the two items is to liken an Album to a Folder, and a Media Item to a File. As such, it's a good idea to categorise the media (typically photo's) into albums in order to allow people to browse through the photo's related to an event or topic they are interested in (such as a particular Fly in). It is possible to further categorise media in to sub-albums, in the same way sub folders are used in your operating system. Please use these album items in order to avoid clutter.

Let's use a hypothetical situation to show how the gallery can be used. Joe Bloggs attends the fly in named 'BoshPosh', Joe takes 5 Photo's and would like to share them with anyone interested in seeing them. Joe Bloggs who is already a registered member, logs on and navigates to the Gallery Page.

For Joe to add his Photo's, he should firstly create an album, lets create an album called 'BoshPosh':

Note: If this is your first time adding an album, you may want to minimize this browser (probably Internet Explorer) and open up a new window and navigate to the gallery page, so you can flick between the pages as you follow the steps.

 This then will show:

This will take you to:

This will take you back to the First Album Page:

Fill in the relevant information. NOTE: It is now possible to select multiple photo's at a time. In order to do this, create a .zip file and add all the photos (.jpg) to this zip file, and select the zip file as the image you want to upload. The gallery will automatically unzip the zip file and go from there.

Once you click 'Add File(s)', the file will appear in a list down the bottom of the page. You can repeat the above step to add more than one file to the album. Once you have added all the files you want, proceed to the next step.

Viola!! You have just added Photo(s) to an album!!
